Herniated or bulging discs can put pressure on the spinal nerves, resulting in nerve pain any where along the nervous system – down the back, neck, legs, hips, arms, shoulders, pelvic area, feet, etc – not every case is text book. At Highland Park ChiroCare, we offer non-surgical spinal decompression to relieve pressure and alleviate associated pain. Unlike more invasive options, with spinal decompression you can enjoy the results and continue to perform your daily activities.
With the Triton Progressive Therapeutic Rehabilitation System, Chattanooga introduced a new generation of innovative traction devices that mimic the intricate nuances of the manual therapist’s hands, thereby expanding the features of modern day traction.
During this procedure, you will lay on a Triton DTS table pictured here while our doctor controls the traction device through a computer. Dr. Barnes determines if cervical or lumbar traction is needed during your diagnosis. A session typically consists of 15 one-minute periods of decompression with a relaxation cycle in between, for a total of 20-30 minutes.
Non-surgical decompression allows any leaking tissue to return to the spinal disc. The vacuum also increases blood circulation in the spine, which brings nutrients and oxygen necessary for healing.
Patients report that decompression is a pain-free procedure; in fact, most patients fall asleep during their session.
Surgery should always be a last resort when it comes to treating back pain.
